Joseph Dwain “Poppy” Williams – Gate City, VA.

Joseph Dwain Williams, 81, Gate City, VA entered into rest Thursday, February 20, 2020 at his residence.

Dwain was born in Scott County, VA on October 24, 1938 and was the son of the late Harvey Ingle Williams and Lois Cuba (Davidson) Williams.

In addition to his parents, his wife, Trula Mae (Bellamy) Williams, one sister and five brothers preceded him in death.

He is survived by daughter, Ginger Taylor, Gate City, VA; son, Christopher Dwain and wife Colleen, Duffield, VA; brother, O. Thomas Williams, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Todd McClellan, Tosha Atherton and husband Brandon, Shalee Williams, Dalton Williams; great-grandchildren, Moriah McClellan, Michael McClellan, Asa Atherton; several nieces and nephews; a host of friends and neighbors.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. February 22, 2020 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Brother William Harvey Lawson and Brother Lennis France officiating. The Edens Family will provide the music.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2020 at the Ervin Family Cemetery in Manville, VA. Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Michael McClellan and Asa Atherton will serve as honorary pallbearers.
