Volena Lawson White

Volena Lawson White, 82, Nickelsville VA, a faithful servant of the Lord, went to her heavenly home on September 1st, 2025.

Born in Scott County, Virginia on May 14th, 1943, Volena was the daughter of the late James “Jim” Lawson, Sr. and Zora (Benton) Lawson. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Payton Reece; sisters, Juanita Lane and Emogene Rhoton; and brothers, James Lawson Jr. and Kenneth Lawson.

Volena is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Everett Lee White; her children, Lana Culbertson and husband Doug, Greg White and wife Lesley, and Ginger Reece and husband Anthony; grandchildren, Jasmine Davis and husband Patrick, Corey Reece, Lindsey Johnson-White, and Kayley Culbertson; and great-grandchildren, Mason and Cooper Davis. She is also lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 5, 2025, at Gate City Funeral Home.

Graveside services will follow at 3:00 p.m., at the White Family Cemetery in Nickelsville, VA, with Reverend Larry Beavers officiating. Special music will be provided by Lisa McCracken.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
