Bessie Vicars ? Gate City, VA Bessie (Bonnie) White Vicars, 76, Gate City, VA entered into rest Thursday, August 16, 2007 at the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation after years of failing health. Bessie was born January 30, 1931 in Scott County, VA to William McKinnley White and Lena Mae Stapleton White. Bessie retired from Libby Glass in Toledo, OH and returned home to Scott County in 1984. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel C. Vicars, her daughter, Delsie Nadine Martin; two sisters, Sylvia Jaree Williams and Sarah Louellva Parks and one nephew, Bobby Williams. She is survived by two grandsons, Michael and Shawn Martin, whom she dearly loved. Two sisters, Mrs. Ada Minton and husband, Curtis, Gate City, VA, Mrs. Mary Vanderpool and husband Vernon, Nickelsville, VA; three brothers, Rev. G.W. White and wife, June, Joe White and wife, Novella, James White and wife, Betty, all of Nickelsville, VA; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Louise Vicars, Nickelsville, VA; several nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2007 at Gate City Funeral Home and anytime at the home of her brother, James White. Services will be at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. G.W. White officiating. Music will be provided by Carl and Debbie Reed and Anita Nichols. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2007 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. The family will meet at 1:15 p.m. at the funeral home. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Dr. Wesley Eastridge and staff at Mountain Region Family Medicine and a special thank you to the caregivers and many friends at the Brian Center. Each ones concern, compassion and love is truly heartfelt. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Brian Center Residents Fund, c/o Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation, 105 Clonce St., Weber City, VA 24290.
