Vanda Ree Kapulani (Ward) Alama Fields, age 71, of Kingsport, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tennessee.
Mrs. Fields was born on November 14, 1954, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to the late Nathaniel Brown Ward, Sr. & Yvonne Kaniokuuhome Alama Ward. Shortly following her birth, Vanda Ree Kapulani was adopted by her Grandparents the late Sam Ah-sin and Helen Kawailani Alama. Following their passing, she was raised by her Hanai parents Joseph and Moana Royal Kamalulani Allen.
Vanda Ree Kapulani was an amazing Homemaker. She loved hunting and fishing with her Husband. She loved baking and sharing those baked goods with others. She was a very caring and warm person. Her Ohana (family) and friends meant so much to her. She was always keeping in touch and checking on them all. She was also a lover of animals, especially her dogs.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Nathaniel “Buster” Ward and Bobby Allen Alama; sisters, Verena Aloise Ward and Kathy Moananani Allen; and son, Travis Eugene Fields (Marsha).
She is survived by her loving husband, Datra “Chief” Fields; brothers, Sam “Boy Blue” Alama (Lenora), Joseph Allen and Jerry Kawika Allen (Carolina); sisters Kehaulani Ututuvanu, Robin Keikilani Fletcher (Nathan Palakiko) and Sheila Kawailani Moe (Tuna); son, Mark Anthony Fields (Tonya); granddaughter, Taylor Fields; and numerous loving auntys, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2026, at Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with words of comfort by her family members, and prayer by her niece, Christina Anela (Ward) Daugherty.
Burial will follow in the Taylor Cemetery, 6080 Natural Tunnel Parkway, Duffield, VA 24244.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
