Mrs. Thorpe was born in Scott County, Virginia on August 2, 1947, daughter of the late William Henry and Ora Myrtle Williams.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Ray Chester Thorpe, her daughter, Peggy Ann Thorpe, sister, Virginia Williams Mclean and her brother, Malloy Carty, preceded her in death.
Surviving are her sons, Robert Thorpe and fianc?e, Annette Sweeney, Kingsport, TN, Terry Thorpe, Gate City, VA, Don Thorpe and wife, Samantha, Gate City, VA, Jack Thorpe and fianc?e, Melissa Dockery, Kingsport, TN, Jeffery Lane, Hiltons, VA and daughter, Joyce Lane, Duffield, VA, special grandchildren, Erica Falin, Brittany Thorpe, Cody Thorpe, Megan Thorpe, Kristen Thorpe, Jared Garrett, Michael Thorpe, Blake Thorpe, Joseph Coffey and Summer Coffey, sisters, Irene Light, Big Stone Gap, VA, Nancy Williams, Kingsport, TN, Yvonne Viney and Georgia Melton, brothers, Herman Williams, Nickelsville, VA, Randy and Lonnie Williams along with several nieces and nephews, friends and loving neighbors.
Pastor Will Shewey will conduct graveside services at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 18, 2008 at the Thorpe/ Bishop Cemetery in the Bishop Town Community of Scott County, Virginia.
The family will be meeting at the cemetery at 1:45 p.m. for the graveside service.
The family wishes to convey a very special thank you to Alex Hawkins, Charles, Linda and Will Shewey, Hospice Nurses, Rebecca Templeton and Iva Price, Rhoton and Smith Furniture, family and friends, Harold and Marie Snodgrass and loving neighbors, Pam and Harvey Bellamy for all of their love and support.
