Duffield, VA — Ida Chapman Stanley, 92, entered into rest September 22, 2008 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
She was born October 24, 1915 to the late Noah and Alda Jessee Chapman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Stanley; brother, Roy and Ellen Carter Chapman; son-in-law, Junior Bailey.
She was a member of the Stanley Town Community Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Imogene Bailey, Kingsport, TN; son, Harold H. Stanley and wife, Phyllis Barnett Stanley, Florence, AL; sister, Pheobe Chapman McNew; grandsons, Jeffrey Stanley, Gregory Stanley and wife, Tassy, Robbie Nunley and wife, Christy, Karen Funderburg and husband, Brian and Kay Stanley; six great grandchildren, Derick Funderburg, Natalie Stanley, Joshua Stanley, Christopher Nunley, T-Sheena Nunley and Dedra Nunley; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2008 at Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Pat Davis officiating. Music will be provided the Durham Chapel Quartet and Tassy Stanley.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2008 at Stanley Family Cemetery, Hunters Valley Community. The family will meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
Pallbearers will be David Shelton, Christopher Nunley, Joshua Stanley, Jeff Stanley, Greg Stanley and Robbie Nunley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Fields, Fred Gillenwater, Rebbil Bowen, Willie Chapman, Jr., Cecil Davis, Myron Fields and Junior Jennings.
