Joan Leslie Rhoton Spivey, 59, went to be with Jesus on November 16, 2007 at her residence.

Born in Scott County, VA on May 17, 1948, she was of the Baptist faith and was the daughter of the late Roy and Berta Mae Qualls Rhoton.

In addition to her parents, infant sisters, Ada and Maranda Rhoton preceded her in death.

Surviving is her husband, Robert L. Spivey of the home, son and very special daughter-in-law, Roy and Marsha Lane, Mt. Carmel, TN, daughters and son-in-law, Melissa Lane Lawson, Duffield, VA and Rita Williams and husband, Randy, who was like a son, Mt. Carmel, TN, two outstanding grandchildren, C.J. Britt and wife, Melissa, Duffield, VA and Adrienne Britt, Duffield, VA, one great grandchild, Emily Joanna Britt, due in April, brother and very special sister-in-law, Bobby and Teresa Rhoton, Duffield, VA, two special nephews and wives, Tim and Angie Rhoton and Corey and Cathy Rhoton, six special children in Joan's life, Mason and Joey Rhoton, Hannah and Seth Rhoton and Trevor and Cameron Hobbs and her special best friends, Charmie Gibson, Lakie Davis, Sue Smith, Nancy Powers and Patsy Austin.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Saturday, November 17, 2007 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, November 18, 2007 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Mickey Gibson and the Rev. Otto Gibson officiating. Randy Davis, Adrienne Britt and Jimmie Vanover will provide the music.

Burial will follow at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Bobby Rhoton, C.J. Britt, Tim Rhoton, Corey Rhoton, Randy Williams and Denny Arnold will serve as pallbearers. Jimmy Spivey, Denny Plummer, Benny Spivey, Larry Bledsoe, Jerry Wolfe, John Spivey, Dennis Grizzle, Charles Rhoton, Charles Grission, Don Bowles, Lucio Espino, Scott Beckerink, Wayne Bledsoe, Justin Williams, Jason Williams, Jo Smith, Tammy Bledsoe, Shirley Bledsoe, Tammy Hammonds, Jennifer Rogers and Patricia Dean will serve as honorary pallbearers.
