Mrs. Smith was born in Scott County, VA on June 26, 1928, the daughter of the late Reverend Hugh Edward and Mary Della Moody McDavid.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth Smith.
Surviving are her husband, James E. "Jim" Smith, Dan'l Boone, VA; daughters, Linda Jean Smith, Dan'l Boone, VA and Karen S. McCrary and husband, Jon, Gray, TN, son, Phil Smith, Dan'l Boone, VA; grandchildren, Summer McCrary and Marcus Smith; sisters, Maleen Reed, Dan'l Boone, VA, Lucille Williams, Dan'l Boone, VA, Nell Rice and husband, Bill, Kingsport, TN and Betty Peters and husband, Oscar, Dan'l Boone, VA, brother, Allen McDavid and wife, Helen, Dan'l Boone, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, July 14, 2008 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Bob Ray Lane officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, 2008 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Donnie Peters, Rodney Vaughn, Dwain Reed and Jon McCrary will serve as pallbearers.
The family will be meeting at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m., Tuesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
