Shirley Ann Nickels, 86, Mount Carmel, TN, passed away, Monday, October 5, 2026, at her residence.

Shirley was born on April 26, 1940, in Fort Blackmore, VA, and was the daughter of the late William Harper Blevins and Pearlie Mae (Flanary) Moore.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Billy Lonzo “Nick” Nickels; sisters, Linda Carter and Wanda Carter; brothers, Bill Flanary, James Moore, and Junior Blevins; and fur babies, Peanut and Shasta preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Patricia “Trish” Moore Lane, Mary Lane (James), and Margaret Brickey (Sam); brother, Emmett “Bud” Moore; nieces and nephews, Donna Edens, Jeff Carter, Russell Carter (Trisha), Matthew Smith, Ashley Smith, Rachel McCloud, Rebecca Moore, Jenny Baker, Jonathan Moore, Cyndy Fields, Tina Coleman, Ronald Lane, Timothy Lane, Donnie Lane, Katherine Finch, Jessica Lane, Jimmy Lane, Shawn Brickey (Melissa); grand puppy, Mini (Mouse); and several great nieces, nephews, and many special friends.

The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m., Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Raymond Summey, Rev. James Mann, and Rev. Stephen Miller officiating. Tim Baldwin and Chloe Suarez (Violinist) will provide the music.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00a.m, Friday, October 9, 2026, at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15a.m., to go in procession to the graveside service.

Harold Hall, Jerry Kenner, Nick Stamey, and Wes Stidham will serve as pallbearers. Dalton Kenner, Colt Kenner, Axton Stidham, and Corbyn Stidham will serve as honorary pallbearers.
