Shelby Jean Kitchen – Sayreville, NJ

Shelby Jean Kitchen, 82, Sayreville, NJ, formerly of Gate City, VA, passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at her residence.

Born in Gate City, VA, on December 3, 1940, Shelby was the daughter of the late Clement Quillin and Laura Quillin (Kimbler).

In addition to her parents, her husband, Robert Kitchen, one sister, and four brothers preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Robin Gruenewald (Gary), Old Bridge, NJ, Tammy Kitchen, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Samantha Gruenewald (Timothy Davis), Matthew Gruenewald (Joelle Boyce), Jacob Gruenewald, Meghan Sabia (Kevin Blose), and Amanda Sexton (Scott); great-grandchildren, Caleb Sexton, and Danielle Haasz Gruenewald; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 12-2p.m., Sunday June 11, 2023, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Chad Tipton officiating.

Graveside services will follow at the James H. Quillin Cemetery, 2379 Hill Station Alley Rd, Gate City, VA, 24251.  

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
