Homer Hascue Sexton – Ft. Blackmore, VA

Homer Hascue Sexton, 85, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Thursday, May 9, 2019 at the Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN.

He was veteran of the United States Army, a lifetime member of the Ft. Blackmore Fire Department and a school bus driver for the Scott County School System for 25 years.

Homer was born in Scott County, VA on January 16, 1934 to the late, Cannon Doyle and Pearl Lyons Sexton.

In addition to his parents, his brothers, Everett and Ross Sexton preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita Sexton, Ft. Blackmore, VA; daughters, Wilma Jennings, Gate City, VA, Mellisa Joyner and husband, Dwight, Hiltons, VA, Teresa Hensley and husband, Sidney, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Virginia Egan and husband, David, Ft. Blackmore, VA; brother, Allen Sexton and wife, Kathy, Ringo, GA sister-in-law, Bernice Quillen, Ft. Blackmore, VA; grandchildren, Necole Short and husband, Bill, Kingsport, TN, Candance Williams, Gate City, VA, Brian Jennings, Gate City, VA; 4 step-grandchildren; 3 great great – grandchildren; 7 step-great – grandchildren; 2 step-great great-grandchildren; special friends, Victor and Lorene Finch, Ft. Blackmore, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Rick Quillen and Rev. John Fultz officiating. Toke Hensley will provide the music.

Military graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 12, 2019 at the Cox Family Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA, assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honors Team. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m.to go in procession to the graveside.
