Tommy Allen Sawyer, 69, of Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020 at his residence.
Tommy was born on May 21, 1950 to the late Charles and Grace (Pendleton) Sawyer. He is also preceded in death by an infant brother Rufus Sawyer along with other brothers Johnny Sawyer, James and wife Margret Sawyer; sisters, Mary Brickey and husband Russell, Ina Pike and husband Paul; brother-in-law, Doug Begley.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory; his daughter, Alice “Toogie” Summey and husband Richard, Ft. Blackmore, VA; son, Tommy Allen Sawyer, Jr. and wife Tashina, Ft. Blackmore; 6 grandchildren, Amethyst Sims, Tamara Summey, Mackenzie Dockery, Brayden Sawyer, Xavier Sawyer, and Kaylee Summey; great granddaughter, Natalie Parks; sisters, Elsie Begley, Alice McConnell and husband James, Nancy Ryan and husband Darrell; special friends, Margret Owens and Toby Carter.
The family will receive friends on Monday, February 17, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at Gate City Funeral Home in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Brickey Cemetery in Ft. Blackmore, VA with Rev. Raymond Summey officiating. Pallbearers will be Norman Sawyer, David Begley, Travis Sawyer, Mack Sawyer, Wayne Green, Durand Sawyer, and Leslie Ryan.
Music will be provided by James McConnell, Melany Austin, and Jamie Salyer.
