Helen Loretta (Fraley) Sandidge, Gate City, VA.

Helen Loretta (Fraley) Sandidge, 96, of Gate City, VA passed away on Sunday, September 1, 2019 at Holston Valley Medical Center.

Helen was born in Scott County, VA on December 17, 1922 to the late Charles Kitchen Fraley and Margaret Jane (Kiser) Fraley.

She was a member of Gate City United Methodist Church, and a former employee of P.H. Nickles Department Store in Gate City, VA until its closing.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Harvey Wellington Sandidge Jr. (2008); son, Charles Harvey “Chuck” Sandidge; sister, Ruth Kiser Buchanan; brothers, Charles Kermit Fraley and John Tase Fraley preceded her in death.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory daughters, Jane Ann Sandidge, Gate City, VA, Cathy Louise Sandidge, Gate City, VA; granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Sandidge, Kingsport, TN; daughter-in-law, Patti Sandidge Grills, Kingsport, TN; brother-in-law, Richard Blackwell, Kingsport, TN; nieces and nephews, Ellen Buchanan Napier, Knoxville, TN, Eugene Buchanan, Kingsport, TN, Bette Jane Buchanan Brown, Sarasota, FL, Carol Fraley Laferty, Clearfield, KY, Marsha Sandidge Sims, Locust Grove, GA, Russell Sandidge, Palm Bay, FL, Carolyn Sandidge, Palm Bay, FL, Dennis Sandidge, Ovieda, FL; best friend, Louise Herron, Gate City, VA.

The family will receive friends on Friday, September 6, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 p.m., at Gate City Funeral Home in Gate City, VA. A funeral service will follow in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Gordon McBride officiating.

The graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., at Holston View Cemetery in Gate City, VA. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
