Clayton Salling, 76, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away on Friday September 28, 2018 at Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, TN.
Clayton was the beloved son of the late Alice Mullins Salling and Charlie P. Salling. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Fern Fuller and Pauline Reed; and brother Charles Salling.
He loved to talk to people on his CB Radio. His CB handle was “Gray Squirrel”.
He will be dearly missed by Shelby Barnette a loving and trusted friend and companion. He was a loving brother to George, Betty, Mary and Jan. He also had numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 30, 2018, at Gate City Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Gordon Preston and Rev. Eddie McClain officiating. True Faith Singers will be providing the music.
A graveside service will be conducted on Monday, October 1, 2018 at Holston View Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Greg DeMotts who was a friend to Clayton and has always been there for him.
