Ruth Etta Collins, 82, Gate City, VA passed away September 30, 2025, at the Nova Health and Rehab Center, Weber City, VA.
Ruth was born in Scott County Virginia on June 18, 1943, to the late Newton Earl and Maggie Marie (Strong) Mann.
Ruth attended the first Baptist Church in Dungannon in Virginia, she loved the Santa Train, and she worked 32 years for McDonald’s in public relations.
In addition to her parents, her daughter Sonya Nicole Fields; brother, Newton “Earl” Mann and niece, Cindy Edde preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Paul Collins; father of her children, Gale Fields, daughter, Tammy Boyd (Richard); son, Jeffery Fields, granddaughters, Ashley and Brett; grandsons Isaiah, Josh and Dustin; great grandchildren, Bennett, Ada, Reese, Rory, and Annalise; siblings, Susan Kidd, Dorothy Hill (Bill), Cary Mann, Janice Mellon (Paul), Danny Mann (Kathy), Ronnie Mann (Karen), Richard Mann, Patsy Osborne (Orby), Dana Mann Perry (Billy), along with 30 nieces and nephews, 56 great nieces and nephews 10 great great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM, Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 7 PM in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Reverend Larry Beavers officiating. Southern Revival will provide music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 PM Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 12:15 pm to go in procession to the graveside service.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
