Robert Ray Tomlinson- Duffield, VA

Robert Ray Tomlinson, 76, Duffield, VA, passed away, Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Holston Valley Medical Center.

Robert was born on February 15, 1948, in Scott County, VA, to the late Worley Tomlinson and Fannie Gibson Tomlinson. 

Robert loved music and played all genres all of his life. He was a member of the band the Wise Co. Boys. Robert was of the Baptist Faith. 

In addition to his parents, his first wife, Cleo Robinette Tomlinson; sisters, Ellen Tomlinson Thompson, Lizzibel Fritz, Sarah Christian, Cora Graham, Louise Kerns, and Frankie Tomlinson; and brothers, Cornel and Charlie Tomlinson preceded him in death. 

Left to cherish his memory are his brother, Will Tomlinson; daughter, Debra Jones (Timothy); son, Robert Shawn Tomlinson (Loretta); grandchildren, Abigail Cleo Jones, Madison Raelynn Jones, Aaron Hurley, Donovan Fuller, and Christopher Branham II; great-grandchildren, Callie Renee Lawson Jones, Coda, Cade, Addi, Bella, and Alexa Hurley, and Elijah Branham; and several nieces and nephews. 

A graveside service will be held at 11:00a.m., Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the Tomlinson Cemetery, Powell Mountain, Duffield, VA, with Daniel Hurd officiating. Tony Smith will provide the music. 

Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45a.m., for the graveside service. Brandon Williams, Nathan Fritz, Michael Tomlinson, and Will Tomlinson, Jr., will serve as pallbearers. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Gate City Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
