Robert L. Riner – Gate City, VA

Robert Luther Riner, 88, Gate City, VA went to be with the Lord, Thursday September 3, 2026, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Robert was born in Wise, VA on November 18, 1937, and was the late William and Hannah (Mullins) Riner.

He retired from Northfork Southern Railroad as an engineer, (Director of Piers and Electrical Services).

In addition to his parents, his wife, Barbara Kay (Yeary) Riner preceded him in death, April 12, 2021.

Surviving is his son, Greg Riner and wife, Debra, Vinton, VA, grandson, Lewis Altis, brothers, Wayne Riner and wife, Genevie, Nora, VA and Gary Riner and wife, Joanna, Clinton, TN, along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., at Gate City Funeral Home. A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be conducted Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 2:00 p.m., in the Juanita S. Falin Chapel of the funeral home conducted by Chaplain Ephraim Tshuma, D., Min.
