Robert A Goff, 62, Gate City, VA, passed away, Thursday, December 28, 2023, at his residence.

Born on April 17, 1961, in Virginia, Robert was the son of the late Norma Jean Goff and William “Chief” Goff.

A Gate City native, he graduated from Gate City High School and ventured off to work for Bristol Compressors until he found his final work home with Tempur-Pedic.

Robert, better known as “DJ” or “Goff”, enjoyed going to work and spending time at home doing yard work or some kind of project. On his days off he would sit outside listening to music, enjoying the neighborhood.

Robert never met a stranger, and he always had a joke to tell and a smile on his face.

Along with his parents, his son, Antwon Goff; and nephew, Jamaar Goff Sensabaugh preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory are a special friend, Sandy Wolfe; father-in-law, James (Elizabeth) Wood; daughters, Jamie Goff – Johnson, Gate City, VA, and Abigail Starnes, Knoxville, TN; daughter-in-law, Christal Goff, Winston Salem, NC; son, Jonathan Goff, Winston Salem, NC; son-in-law, Maurice Johnson, Gate City, VA; sisters, Vivian Revis (BeBe), Orlando, FL, and Carolyn “Becky” Sensabaugh, Kingsport, TN; sister-in-law, Becky Goff, Kingsport, TN; brother, William “Bubba” Goff, Kingsport, TN; brother-in-law, Kim Sensabaugh, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, KJ, Cyncere, Peyton, and Zamaria Goff, JaiReona, Jerod Jr., and JaHaven Brown-Carter, Keontae and Syana Johnson, Eric and LeAsia Wolfe; aunt, Doris Calloway, New Port News, VA, nieces and nephews, Coty Sensabaugh, Shawn Revis, Chad Revis, Travis Sensabaugh, Whitley Nelson; and special cousins, Jennifer and Eddie Coley, and uncle, Richard (Rochelle) Maxwell, Gate City, VA.

The family will receive friends from 11-12p.m., Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 12:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Steve Templeton, Rochelle Maxwell, and Rev. Lester Turner officiating. James Wood and Bob Payne will provide the music.

Graveside services will follow at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Gordon Wood will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
