Janice Winston Peters, Duffield, VA
Janice Winston Peters, 74, of Duffield, VA passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Ridgecrest Manor Nursing Home.
Janice was born in Scott county, on July 6, 1945 to the late John Willie and Laura (Lyons) Peters. She is also preceded in death by her brothers, Cecil Peters, Kermit Peters, and J.C. Peters, her sister, Shelby Williams, and the father of her children, Bill Winston.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband Dewey Peters of the home; daughter, Patricia Massengill and husband Gillis, Edison, TN; sons, Kenneth Winston and wife Tammy, Gate City, VA, David Winston and wife Eula Mae, Fairview, VA, Jimmy Winston and wife Sherry, Bristol, VA, Dennis Winston and wife Missy, Gate City, VA; brother, Willie Peters, Kingsport, TN; 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Gate City Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The family will receive friends at other times at Dennis and Missy’s residence in the Daniel Boone community. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evg. Kenneth Neeley, Rev. Riley Boy, and Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. The Clinch River Boys will be providing music.
The graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Powers Cemetery in Robinette Valley. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 9:00 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff at Ridgecrest Nursing Home, Carter Fold Hall for their loving care of “Granny Long Legs” during her illness.
