Paul Marak – Duffield, VA

Paul Joseph Marak, 57, Duffield, VA and formerly of Corpus Christi, TX passed away, Friday, May 24, 2024, after a short battle with cancer.

Born in Kansas City, MO on December 10, 1966, he was the son of Mary Lynn Humble Dickey and the late Louis David Marak.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard.

Paul was an enigma. Loved by many and understood by few. A seeker, searching for a new adventure or a way to help others. He was present, but often at a distance in his own space.

He took solace in nature, with a love of beaches, fishing, and flying his drone to capture gorgeous sunsets. He was humble and empathetic with everyone he encountered and inspired those special to him with that kindness. He was fun and funny, especially with his nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

His creativity was boundless. You never knew what Paul would come up with. During the year of his courageous battle, he found joy in mowing, often with a great niece or nephew riding along. Paul loved singing at the top of his lungs, and growing sunflowers and corn, creating a cool space for the family to gather. He was full of hope, even through the pain, and untimely end of his life, he left us with his beautiful presence in everything he touched.

His love for his family will remain in our hearts forever.

In addition to his father, his sister, Jeanne Marak, and stepfather, Robert Dickey preceded him in death.

Paul is survived by his mother, Mary Lynn Dickey, sisters, Sharon Musich, and Elizabeth and Tim Anderson, brothers, David and Lynn Marak, and John Marak, nephews, Ryan, Jeremy, Jacob, and Nick, nieces, Katie, Rachael, Michaela, and Jessica, his stepmother, Philomene Bennett, step sisters and step brothers, Katherine Price, Brendy Bauman, Bart Bennett, and Ben Bennett and their respective spouses, children, and grandchildren.
