Hubert Owens, 79, entered into rest Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at his son's residence.
He was born in Wise County, VA February 25, 1929 to the late Andy Owens and Ella Tipton.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ina Owens; son, Robert Owens; sister, Elva Davis; brother, Guy and Chester Owens.
He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his daughter, Elizabeth Snavely, Gate City, VA; son, Dennis "Bud" Owens and fianc?, Bonnie Morgan, Gate City, VA; brother, Junior Owens, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Robert Owens, Sherry Owens, Kathi Mohler; great grandson, Henry Mohler; special great grandson, Dakota Burnett; great granddaughter, Savana Mohler; special friends, Lessie Carico, Lennis France, Ricky Begley, Dwayne Lipe, Ronald Laney, Jan Laney and Rowena Calton; several special nieces, nephews and many good friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2008 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his son. Services will be at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Lennis France and Eulogy will be given by Rick Begley. Music will be provided by Durham Chapel Quartet.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 30, 2008 at McConnell/Craft Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore Community. The family will meet at 10 a.m. at the funeral home for the graveside service.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers
