Shirley Mae (Petty) Muncey, 80, Gate City, VA passed away, Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Specialty Select of Bristol Regional Medical Center.
Shirley was born in New York on November 17, 1938.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Carl Edward Muncey, Sr. preceded her in death in May of 2015.
She retired from the Kingsport Press with 38 years of service.
Surviving is her son, Carl Edward “Boo” Muncey, II, Gate City, VA; daughter, Shannon Muncey. Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Talia Muncey and fiancé. Ben Barbour, Gate City, VA and Candyce Hodges, Jonesborough, TN; great grandson, Tashawn Muncey, Gate City, VA; and best friend, Doris Darnell, Ft. Blackmore, VA.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, November 14, 2019 at the Gate City Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 15, 2019 at Holston View Cemetery with Terry Spears officiating.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., to go in procession to the graveside service.
