Ada Murriel Minton – May 27, 2018 passed away peacefully at her home with her loving family by her side.
Born in Scott County, VA on September 17, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. McKinley White. She has been a resident of Scott County most of her life, living in the Yuma Community for 46 years. She graduated from Nickelsville High School in 1957. She has been a homemaker and was office manager of Minton’s Diesel Service since 1983. She loved gardening, canning, and her flowers. She attended the Pentecostal Church for the last 48 years. She loved going to churches in Scott County and Northeast TN with her husband as he taught Adult Sunday School Lessons.
She was preceded in death by her parents McKinley and Lena Stapleton White, her mother and father-in-law, whom she loved like parents, Nathan and Thelma Minton, sisters: Jaree Williams, Lou Parks, and Bonnie Vicars; a very special nephew that she loved like a son, Bobby Williams, and her youngest son and baby whom she treasured, Phillip Minton. Also, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters-in-law.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Curtis Minton; her son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Lisa Minton; son and caregiver, Dale Minton, and her special grandson, Brandon, who was the light of her life; and his girlfriend, Cortney Wolfe, daughter-in-law, Lisa Wolfe Minton; her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Vernon Vanderpool; brothers, and sisters-in-law, G.W. and June, James and Betty, and Joe White; several nieces, nephews, brothers and sisters-in-law; also her church family, whom she loved dearly, special friends, Nell and Howard Gillenwater and their family, who were always there for her, and two special children, Hannah and Bryson.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, May 31, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home and any time at the residence. The funeral service will follow with Pastors Dwayne Williams and Billy Bryant officiating. Music will be provided by the Pentecostal Power House.
Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 1, 2018 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Her nephews and friends will serve as pallbearers. Howard Gillenwater and Buford Blankenbeckler will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., Friday to go in procession to the graveside service.
