Mickey Blaine Lane

Mickey Blaine Lane, 55, Gate City, VA, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Holston Valley Medical Center.

Mickey was born in Hollywood Maryland, on October 24, 1970, and was the son of Lorene (Sexton) Darnell and the late Howard Lane.

In addition to his father, his stepdad, Howard Darnell; stepmom, Lois Lane; maternal grandparents, Marshall Sexton (Audrey); paternal grandparents, Emmett Lane (Ethel); brother, Anthony “Huck” Lane; sister, Debra Cordle; sisters-in-law, Brenda Lawson and Sharon Baker; brother-in-law, Johnny Helton; nephews, Andrew Darnell and Tyler Tipton preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 29 years, Rachel Lane; daughter, Nevaeh Lane; son, Owen Lane; mother, Lorene Darnell; mother and father-in-law, Jimmy Baker (Wilma); sisters, Michelle Hunley (James) and Norma Gibson (Jim); brothers, Charles “Pug” Lane, Jimmy Darnell (Laura), James Lane (Della), Teddy Darnell, Junior Darnell; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m., Friday, June 26, 2026, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 7:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with Marvin Egan and Jimmy Darnell officiating. Tim and April Baldwin and Owen Lane will provide the music.

Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00p.m., Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Baker Cemetery, Dungannon, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:15a.m., to go in procession to the graveside service.

Ryan Gilreath, Gerald Delp, Mike Waye, David Lawson, Steven Baker, and Charlie Sexton will serve as pallbearers. James Hunley, Jon Darnell, Parker Gilreath, Bentley Trivette, Christopher Cordle, Hayden Cordle, Matthew Baker, Brady Quillen, and Kenny Brice will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Holston Valley Medical Center W-3, Wilcox and D-500 for their love and support for Mickey.
