Dungannon, VA – Jeremy Scott McNew, 20, entered into rest Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center due to an automobile accident.
He was born in Sullivan County, TN October 26, 1988. He was a 2007 graduate of Twin Springs High School and was a student of Mountain Empire Community College. Jeremy accepted the Lord on January 4, 2009 and attended the House of Refuge Baptist Church in Gate City, Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Clinton McNew, 1996; maternal great grandfather, Charles Darnell; paternal great grandfather, Ira Edwin Gillenwater; uncles, Chris and Michael McNew.
Survivors include his mother, Sherry Hall and husband, Ronnie, Dungannon, VA; sisters, Whitney Hurd, Dungannon, VA and Megan McNew, Dungannon, VA; girlfriend and the love of his life, Jessica Roller, Gate City, VA; maternal great grandmother, Anna Cagle, Dungannon, VA; paternal great grandparents, K.L and Margie McNew, Dungannon, VA, paternal great grandmother, Mable Gillenwater, Gate City, VA, paternal grandparents, Jerry and Jeannie McNew, Dungannon, VA; maternal grandparents, Douglas and Linda Perry, Dungannon, VA;; step-father, Greg Hurd, Jefferson City, TN; step brothers, Cody Hall, Dungannon, VA and Tucker Hall, Kingsport, TN; several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his grandparents, Douglas and Linda Perry and Jerry and Jeannie McNew. Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jerry Smith and Rev. Gary Hunley officiating. Music will be provided by Tim Baldwin and April McNew.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 15, 2009 at the McNew Family Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. The family will meet at 1 p.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery for the graveside service.
Pallbearers will be his uncles, Alan Perry, Charles Perry, Kevin Perry, Michael Perry, Jerry McNew, Jr., and Mark Frasier.
