William C. McMurray, 86 Gate City, VA went to be with the Lord on Friday, March 2, 2012 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Scott County, VA on February 25, 1926 to Dewitt Clinton and Sarah Haven McMurray. Mr. McMurray was retired from Port Clinton Manufacturing Company, Port Clinton, OH in 1993 where he worked as a machine operator, and then returning to Scott County, VA.
William loved his family, gardening, the Baltimore Orioles, and Blue Grass music by Bill Monroe. He was a member of Glenwood Community Church in Hiltons, VA.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Ollie May McMurray; sister, Stella McMurray; brothers; Carlos, Marshall and Joe C. McMurray preceded him in death.
He is survived by daughter Pamela Addington and husband, Brad, Yuma, VA; son, Danny Eugene McMurray, Hiltons, VA; grandson, Bobby Whiteaker and wife, Jennifer, Gate City, VA; great-granddaughter, Eryn Grace Whiteaker, Gate City, VA; sister, Mary Booher, Port Clinton, OH; sisters-in-law, Ruby McMurray, Kingsport, TN, Louise McMurray, Kingsport, TN, and Jewel McMurray, Dayton, OH; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Monday, March 5, 2012 at Gate City Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 8 pm. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Horne and Rev. Rex McMurray officiating. The Bowlin Quartet will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the McMurray Family Cemetery, Hiltons VA. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends will be meeting at the funeral home at 10 am Tuesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Lesley Jones.
