Margaret Carol McConnell – Kingsport, TN
Margaret Carol McConnell, 75, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Scott County, VA on October 7, 1942, she is the daughter of the late Oliaf and Leslie Gilliam McConnell
She graduated from Dungannon High School in 1960. She was a graduate of the Kingsport School of Practical Nursing and also ETSU with an ADN degree in nursing.
She attended First Assembly of God, Kingsport TN under Pastor Kelleher until her health no longer permitted. She was a woman of faith that loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
In addition to her parents, her niece Brenda McConnell and nephew Matthew Addington preceded her in death.
She retired from Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center where she worked most of her nursing career. She also worked at the Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center and the VA Medical Center Buffalo during the times she lived in Niagara Falls, NY.
Survivors are brothers Gail and Kathy McConnell Ft Blackmore, VA; Charles and Margaret McConnell Erwin, TN, and Mike and Debra McConnell, Kingsport, TN; sister Helen and Ernie Addington Gate City, VA; nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly as her own children April and Kip Baumgarder Atlantic Beach, NC, Jodie McConnell Johnson City, TN, Jason and Elizabeth McConnell, Erwin, TN, Jonathan and Kristy McConnell Gate City, VA, Gabriel Addington, Gate City, VA, David and Autumn McConnell Gate City, VA.
Grand nieces and nephews who were her delight Christopher, Corey and Cody Keever, Ethan, Eli, Ean, Meadow, Landree, and Brogan McConnell, and her special “Little Bit”, Abby McConnell; Special neighbor and dear friend, Patsy Tunnell, Stephen, Andrew, and Amanda Tunnell, nieces and nephews by love.
Special thank you to those that gave loving care to Carol Fresenius Kidney Care, Indian Path Campus, Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital, Amedisys Hospice Care.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Marvin Egan and Rev. Roger Daugherty officiating. Dinah Hicks will provide the music.
Graveside services will be Friday August 10, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at MT. Pleasant, Midway Community of Scott County, VA Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
