Mary Lynn Dickey – Duffield, Virginia
Mary Lynn (Humble) Marak Dickey, 90 passed on July 22nd. She passed peacefully at her residence, surrounded by her loved ones.
Lynn was born in Keams Canyon, Arizona on October 21, 1934. She spent her early years on White Cone Arizona Navajo Indian reservation.
She was a 1952 graduate of Ray High School, Corpus Christi, TX. While in high school, she created the city seal, which is still used today.
Lynn was a talented artist, displaying expertise in many disciplines. She excelled in Plein air, fiber and pottery. She received a bachelor’s degree in fine arts at The Kansas City Art Institute as well as a master’s in art history. She spent many years as a fashion illustrator. Her primary career was in education.
In life, she is highly spoken of as a woman of grace, fortitude and courage. She was a member of Daughters of the Kings and was involved in the church until only recently. She was a teacher and leader for others. She was a warrior, free-willed and hardheaded. Running wild in the desert as a child, fighting cancer, losing children and loved ones, she maintained that power throughout her life. Our matriarch, our source of strength and joy, and will forever be deeply missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Mary Belle (Thomas) Humble. husband, Robert M Dickey, former husband, Louis Marak, a daughter, Jeanne Marie Marak, son, Paul Marak, and stepson, Robert Dickey.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy and husband, Jim Rankin, brother Bob, and wife Sherilyn Humble, sister Susan and husband Joe Ontko. sister Gail, and husband, Jim Fury. son, David and wife, Rebecca Marak. daughter, Sharon Musich and Richard Caulkins. son, John Marak. daughter, Elizabeth Anderson, stepdaughter, Beth Dickey Garza, and husband, Rick. She has many loved and cared for grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
It was her wish to be cremated.
A memorial service will be announced and scheduled for a later date at Saint Bartholomew’s Church in Corpus Christi, Texas.
The family will also be holding a memorial Sunday, August 17 at 5 PM at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church.
