Lucille Ervin Rhoton, 92, Gate City, VA, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, June 4, 2025 {one day before her 93rd birthday} at her home in the Manville community after a period of declining health. Lucille was a lifelong resident of Gate City and was of the Baptist faith. Lucille and her husband, Wrightly who preceded her in death in 2014, enjoyed camping and met many new friends on their camping adventures. They also enjoyed making quilts and many different types of crafts and participated in crafting fairs for many years.
Lucille was born on June 5, 1932, to the late Lorn and Mae Musick Ervin. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harry Ervin; sister, Patsy Carter; sisters-in-law, Betty Bishop and Pauline Jones; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dan and Laura Darnell Rhoton; and her son-in-law, Lester Frazier.
Lucille was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother who enjoyed doing things for her family and taking care of them and she will be greatly missed. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Smith (Dale), and Patricia Frazier; grandchildren, Justin Smith (Michelle), Rusty Smith, Jamie Bishop, and Mark Frazier; great grandchildren, Jacob Darnell (Ashton), Rhiannon Bishop, Brooklyn Smith, Bryson Smith, Brayden Smith, Cole Smith, and Hayden Smith; great-great grandchildren, Jace Darnell, Aubree Darnell, and Amelia Darnell; and sister-in-law, Barbara Dishner.
The family will receive friends at any time at the residence in the Manville community, and from 5-7p.m., Friday, June 6, 2025, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 7:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Justin Smith officiating. Dale Smith and singers will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00p.m., Saturday, June 7, 2025, at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15p.m., to go in procession to the graveside service.
Rusty Smith, Mark Frazier, Jacob Darnell, Cole Smith, Bryson Smith, and Brayden Smith will serve as pallbearers.
The family extends a special thank you to Caris Hospice for their excellent care of our loved one during her illness.
