Lonnie Junior "Did" Ramey

Lonnie Junior “Did” Ramey, 94, Fort Blackmore, VA, went home to be with Lord on Friday, January 9, 2026.

Lonnie was born on June 11, 1931, and was the son of the late Luther and Laura Edna Dockery Ramey.

In addition to his parents, his daughter, Linda Fay Ramey; 2 brothers, John and Hubert Ramey; and his loving wife, Myrtle Ramey precedes him in death.

He enjoyed fishing and storytelling of growing up in a country way of life.

Left to cherish his memory are 3 daughters, Wilma Salyer (Garnie), Nickelsville, VA, Kathy Starnes (Jimmy), Fort Blackmore, VA, and Joan Payne, Gate City, VA; 2 sons, Jimmy Ramey (Judy), Gate City, VA, Joey Ramey (Diane), Sneedville, TN; 3 sisters, Katie Ingle (Denver), Janice Sutherland and Gracie Lane; brother, William Ramey (Roma); 8 grandchildren, Pamela, Amanda, Kimberly, Kaylee, Rhianna, Christopher, Elizabeth, and Jennifer; 8 great grandchildren, Collin, Maddison, Emma, Jacob, Nathaniel, Raelyn, Remi, and Henry.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00a.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at the Starnes Cemetery, Fort Blackmore, VA, with Robbie Dockery officiating. Todd Jennings will provide the music. 

Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45a.m., for the graveside service. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to extend special thanks to everyone at Caris Hospice and the wonderful care they provided Lonnie.
