Mr. Willie Marion Lane, 72, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at his residence.
Mr. Lane was born in Scott County, VA on April 8, 1935, a son of the late Emmitt and Ethel Baldwin Lane. He was of the Baptist faith and attended both The Lighthouse Baptist Church and New Buffalo Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Shirley Darnell and Lillian Baldwin and his brother, Howard Lane.
Surviving is his wife, Dorothy Lane, Ft. Blackmore, VA, daughters and son-in-law, Ethel Light and husband, Timothy, Gate City, VA and Reba Lane, Ft. Blackmore, VA, son, Jerry Graham and fianc?e, Jestie Reece, Abingdon, VA, granddaughter, Ashleigh Brooke Light, sister, Georgia Baldwin, Dungannon, VA along with several nieces and nephews and special friend, Paul Owens.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Thursday, March 27, 2008 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Fred Starnes, the Rev. James Mann, the Rev. Charlie Taylor and the Rev. Wrightly Salling officiating. Tim Baldwin and April McNew will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, March 28, 2008 at the Corder Cemetery, Dungannon, VA. Jimmy Darnell, Teddy Darnell, Junior Darnell, Gilbert Begley, James Lane, Bruce Graham, Greg Hillman and Charles Lane will serve as pallbearers.
The family will be meeting at the cemetery for the graveside service.
The family would like to thank Mr. Lane's caregivers, Mountain Region Home Health and Hospice nurses.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the family in Mr. Lane's honor.
