James Lee Lane. 72, of Gate City, VA passed away on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, Johnson City, TN.
James was born in Scott County Virginia on February 8, 1948 to the late Judge Matthew, Sr. and Christa Belle (Lovell) Lane. He is also preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, Robin Barnette, E. J. Lane, and Bill Smith.
He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged after serving 2 years. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to hunt, fish and spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 38 years, Frances Culbertson, Gate City, VA; daughters, Lisa Lee and husband Mark Byington, Duffield, VA, Summer Rose and husband Chris Fuller, Honaker, VA; son, James Michael Lane and Emily Trainham, Gate City, VA; sisters, Ruby Barnette, Kingsport, TN, Laura Lane, Saltville, VA, Shirley Smith, Stickleyville, VA; brothers, Orbin and wife Jenny Lane, Gate City, VA, Matthew and wife Kathy Lane, Fairview, VA; grandchildren, Emily Davis, Christen Fuller, Neylan Fuller, Hailey Byington, Rupert Lane, Felix Lane; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will hold a private graveside service for James.
