Lana Dale Laney, 72, Dungannon, VA, passed away Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Ballad Hospice House.

Lana was born in Norton, VA, on July 31, 1953, and was the daughter of the late Morgan Dotson and Marie (Belcher) Dotson.

Lana never met a stranger. She carried a kindness that made everyone feel welcome, and she loved with her whole heart. If someone needed help, she was there without hesitation. Her generosity was simply who she was.

She worked for Wise Insurance Agency for more than 53 years.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Jack Laney; two daughters, Brandi Dingus and Jessica Laney; a granddaughter, Kenzie Laney; two sisters, Sharon Carter and Marsha Stacy; brother, Tim Dotson; mother-in-law, Betty Lou Laney; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1-2p.m., Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 2:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with James Mann officiating.

Graveside services will follow at the Carter Cemetery in Fort Blackmore, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Hospice House in Bristol, TN, who took care of her with such loving care; We will always cherish the time we had with Lana, and she will live in our hearts forever.
