Karen Jewell Britt, 61, Nickelsville, VA, passed away October 12, 2026, at Bristol Select Specialty.

Karen was born on October 6, 1965, in Lebanon, VA, and was the daughter of the late M.C. Elam and Elizabeth Rose (Helbert) Elam.

In addition to her parents, her husband Darrell Lee Britt, Sr. preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Kathy Salyer (John); brother, Danny Elam (Carol); nieces, Tracy Osborne (Jeff), Stephanie Mitchell (Daniel Byington); great nephews, Dylan Osborne (Tyne) and Brady Mitchell; great- great niece, Oakley Osborne; special friend, Gary Addington; and fur babies, Medina, Atilla, Rusty, Misty, and Smokey.

The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m., Friday, October 16, 2026, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 7:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Chris Shanks officiating. David and Debbie Easterling will provide the music.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00p.m., Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Grassy Creek Cemetery, Russell County, VA, with Brother Nick Shortridge officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 12:45p.m., for graveside service.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Brady Mitchell, Dylan Osborne, John Salyer, Jeff Osborne, Daniel Byington, Kevin Quillen, and Brady Quillen will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Bristol Select Medical for their love and care for Karen.
