John Benjamen Durham – Gate City, VA

John Benjamen Durham, 60, Gate City, VA passed away, Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at his residence with his family at his side.

John was born in Louisville, Ky on May 1, 1965, and was the son of the late Roy Edward and Helen (Puckett) Durham.

In addition to his parents, his brother, Jimmy McClanahan, son-in-law, Shawn Hill, and step mother, Patsy (McElroy) Durham preceded him in death.

John was a man whose world revolved around his family. Nothing brought him more pride and pure joy than being a father and grandfather. He truly lived for his kids and grandkids. He had a unique way of making each of us feel seen and loved, leaving us with a lifetime of memories that we will hold onto forever.

We are so lucky to have had him as our anchor, and while we will miss him dearly, his love remains the heartbeat of this family.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 40 years, Theresa Durham, daughters, Jessica Duncan and wife, Lori, and Tina Marie Durham, son, Andrew Durham and wife, Vanessa, grandchildren, Kierra, Aaliyah, Asia, Trinity, Kevin, Xavier, Bella, Eli, Arianna, and DeAndre, 4 great grandchildren, brothers, Bobby McClanahan, Billy McClanahan, Donny McClanahan, Roy Durham, Jr., and Ricky Durham, best friends, John Pettigrew and Jimmy Ruppert, along with several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, February 14, 2026, in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Gate City Funeral Home.
