Joanna Argoe Spicer

Joanna Argoe Spicer went to be with Jesus on Sunday, February 4, 2024, at Johnson City Medical Center.

Joanna was born on June 1, 1963, to the late Rev. Paul David Argoe and Dorothy Stone Argoe.

Joanna received her education at Gate City High School, Mountain Empire Community College, and Clinch Valley College where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. 

Joanna was preceded in death by her parents and her unborn son.

Joanna spent all of her teaching career in Scott County where she retired after thirty-three years. She was an accomplished pianist, saxophonist, and vocalist.

Joanna was a member of First Assembly of God Church where she served in various roles such as Sunday School teacher, Missionette Sponsor, children's church leader, music director, and program coordinator. 

Left behind to cherish Joanna’s memory are her husband, Tim Spicer; sons Jed Spicer and wife Amber, Caleb Spicer, and wife Lili; her grandchildren who she adored Michael Paul and Mara Spicer; brother-in-law Jeff Spicer, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the Gate City Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Jed Spicer officiating. 

A eulogy will be given by her daughter-in-law Amber Spicer and Andrea Lawson. Music will be provided by the First Assembly of God Praise Team along with other family and friends. 

A graveside service will be held at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, Va, with Jeff Casteel officiating and Jed Spicer, Caleb Spicer, Damien Hughes, Christian Moore, Jeff Casteel, and Brian Mays serving as pallbearers.
