Jimmy Hugh Pierson – Gate City, VA

Jimmy Hugh Pierson, 88, Gate City, VA passed away, Monday, January 26, 2026, at his residence.

Jimmy was born in Kingsport, TN on September 8, 1937, and was the son of the late James Milo Pierson and Stella (Gibson) Pierson.

He was employed at Mason Dixon Trucking for 18 years and retired from Holston Defense. He was known for his strong work ethic and devotion to his family. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and friends on the front porch.

In addition to his parents, his brother, Milburn Lonzo Pierson preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Stella Pierson, daughter, Rita Rehberg and husband, Chris, sister, Ida Jane Catron, brother, Bobby Joe Pierson and wife, Mildred, brother-in-law, Audley Fansler, grandchildren, Lily Rehberg and Reid Rehberg, along with many special nieces and nephews.

A committal service will be conducted at 2:00p.m., Friday, January 30, 2026, at the Gate City Funeral Home with Aaron Tate and Andy Tate officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:45p.m. for the service.

Reid Rehberg, Chris Rehberg, Rudy Gibson, Mike Hensley, Rick Fansler, Jerry Fansler, Steve Wilson, and Tanner Arrington will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jon Light, Leslie Jackson, Johnny Jones, Delmas Lane, Randy Fansler, Avery Fansler, JP Fansler, and Warren Fansler.
