Jimmy Ray Hensley - Weber City, VA

Jimmy Ray Hensley, 73, Weber City, VA passed away, Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at the Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN.

Jimmy was born in Scott County, VA on July 23, 1952, and was the son of the late Charlie Patton and Mattie Gertrude (Kinkead) Hensley.

In addition to his parents, a sister, Bertha Dean; brothers, Cecil Kinkead, Elmer and Doss Hensley preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggy Hensley; children, Anthony “Wayne” Hensley (Tammy), Penny Hammonds (Robert), John Hensley (Angela); brothers, Homer “Toke” Hensley, Sidney Hensley (Teresa), Billy Hensley (Kathy), Brodis Hensley (Deborah), special brothers, James “Babe” Lawson (Sue) and Ross Frazier; grandchildren, Joshua Hensley (Megan), Brooklyn Keeley (Brock), Abbigale Hammonds, Dalton Hensley, and Hannah Hammonds; great-grandchildren, Luke, Claire, Henry, Lincoln, Emma Kate and an expectant great-granddaughter; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, December 12, 2025, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. James Mann officiating. Mike Taylor and Melissa Henry will provide the music.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the Lawson Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Daniel “Boone” Dean, Gale Gibson, George Ramey, Jeff Gibson, James “Possum” Pierson, Kevin Elliott, Sam Dockery, Ryan Sizemore and Matthew Housewright will serve as pallbearers. Ross Frazier and Gary Akers will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Family and friends are asked to meet at 10:15a.m., Saturday, December 13, 2025, to go in procession to the graveside service.
