Virgie Jessee, 92 ? 204 Arrowhead Lane, Nickelsville, VA. passed away at home August 25, 2007 with her son, Larry and daughter, Nancy, by her side. She was born January 3, 1915 in Scott County to the late William H. and Allie Hicks Patrick.

Virgie was the oldest member of Free Hill Baptist Church, where she was a clerk, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.
She was a graduate of Nickelsville High School class of 1933. While growing up, she worked in her father's grocery and never met a stranger. She was later employed at Kresses Department Store where she became sales floor manager in the early 40's and went to work at Tennessee Eastman Company until her marriage to Kermit Wilson Jessee. And then moving back to Nickelsville to her husband's family farm and her home for the last 63 and half years. She was known as one of the best cooks in Scott County.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Kermit W. Jessee in 1979, and infant twin daughters, Mary Lou and Eva Sue Jessee in 1952. Brothers, Joe, James, Willard Patrick and Wayne Ketron. Sisters, Mary Kate Harris, Lou Vista Jones, Lettie Mae Boyer, Amy Brookshire, Jennie Beck McKinley and Catherine Duncan.

She is survived by her son, Larry A. Jessee, daughter and son- in ?law, Nancy and Jimmy W. Williams of Nickelsville, VA. Grand daughter and husband, Rhonda W. and James Gregory Bausell, great grand son, Williams Wesley Bausell of Weber City, VA. Brothers, Jack and Elizabeth Patrick of Fall Branch, TN. George and Carol Patrick of Blountville, TN. Brothers ? in ? law, Robert Jessee and wife, Faye and Arthur Jessee of Kingsport, TN.
Sister- in ? law, Maybelle Jessee, Weber City, VA. Along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Monday, August 27, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Larry Beavers and Rev. Darrell Fletcher officiating.
Music will be provided by Rev. Carlos Wolfe.

Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Free Hill Cemetery, Nickelsville, VA.

Bob Bausell, Jeff McAmis, David Phillips, Bill Webb, Andrew Hartsock and Burnie Jessee will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Emmit (Jr.) Jessee, Henry Lee Robinson, Glenn Peters and Dr. Gregory DeMotts.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gregory DeMotts, the staff of Nickelsville Medical Clinic and Farrah Lane for their help in their time of need.

The family will be meeting at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the
graveside service.
