Jerry Wolfe - Weber City, VA
Jerry Willis Wolfe, 81, Weber City, VA, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness.
Jerry was born on January 13, 1944, in Sullivan County, TN, to the late Hiram Wolfe and Margie L. (Page) Wolfe.
Jerry lived a full and meaningful life - a life filled with hard work, love, and adventure. He found his greatest joy in the simple things - spending time outdoors, farming, hunting, and foraging for ginseng. Whether it was walking the hills searching for ginseng, or sitting patiently on a tree-stand waiting for a “big buck” to pass through, Jerry felt closest to God in nature. Those who knew him best could always count on him for a good story about “the one that got away.”
He loved his community and his church, remaining faithful and steadfast even in times of sickness. Jerry was a lifelong member of Wolfe’s Church, where his faith guided his life.
Jerry worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family. He spent 19 and a half years with Mason Dixon and 13 years with Yellow Freight Lines, where he worked as a dock worker loading and unloading tractor-trailers, sorting freight, and keeping shipments moving efficiently. His work ethic and dependability became a lasting example for his children and grandchildren of what it means to work hard and stay humble. Jerry also served his country in the National Guard for six years, demonstrating the same sense of duty, humility, and dedication that he carried throughout his entire life.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Gamble and Shirley Bledsoe; his best furry friend, Zoey; and many other loved ones who went before him.
Jerry leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Brenda C. Stokes Wolfe - the love of his life and his greatest supporter. Together, they built a strong and loving family. He is survived by his children: Jerry Wolfe (Tonja), Rebecca Brackett (John), and Michael Wolfe (Nicole); Grandchildren who were his pride and joy: Hunter Wolfe (fiancée, Amy), Hayley Wolfe White (Dustin), Hayden Wolfe Rupe (Vance), Belle Wolfe, and Gabby Wolfe; his sister, Brenda Hoskins (Phil); his special brother-in-law, Larry Bledsoe; his loyal pup, Gracie; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Wolfe’s Church. Services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mickey Gibson officiating. Graveside services will follow at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA. Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Wolfe, Michael Wolfe, John Brackett, Hunter Wolfe, Dustin White, and Vance Rupe. Larry Bledsoe will be serving as an honorary pallbearer.
The Wolfe family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to caregivers Stephanie Renye and Karen Rollins for their unwavering devotion and constant presence throughout the hardest moments. The family also extends a sincere thank you to Dr. Bryan Arnette and nurse Lisa at HMG for their exceptional medical care and support over the past several years.
