Jerry Wayne Lawson, Ft. Blackmore, VA, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2025, at the Holston Valley Hospital, Kingsport. TN.

Jerry was born in Scott County, VA on April 17, 1956, to the late Lucian and Ina Marie Lawson.

In addition to his parents, his niece, Chandra Perry preceded him in death

Jerry was loved by everyone who knew him, and he never saw a stranger. Jerry was an automobile technician giving over 50 years of dedicated service. Winning numerous awards and trophies for his work. He started his career before he graduated high school in Indiana. He was hired at Daugherty Brothers Chevrolet around 1985. There, he was highly respected by his customers and co-workers. He stayed there until they closed, only missing one week of work before finishing his career at Courtesy Chevrolet. He retired in 2023.

Jerry and I met in April 1988, instantly fell in love and married later that year in December. We had our son, Jerald, in 1990. Jerry was such a proud daddy and loving husband.

Love is a marvelous thing. God is love but also a God of wrath. We can’t explain why God does what He does or when He does. One thing we know is when it’s your time to die, that is one debt that all people pay, and it pays to be ready. In being ready that means knowing Jesus and believing He died for your sins, was buried and rose again. If Jerry could tell you anything today, he would tell you to live every minute as though it was the last. Death has no rules and death has no age. We were all born to die.

Today I hold his heartbeat deep in my heart and soul, my heart would not beat without his inside of me.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, D’Lynn Lawson, son, Jerald Lawson, of the home; sisters, Linda and Gary Hass, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Tresea Lytle and Jeff Neal, Kingsport, TN, Carolyn and Mike Davis, Indiana; brother-in-law, Mickey and Nikki Summey, Gate City, VA; special uncle, Babe and Sue Lawson; along with a host of special nieces, nephews and friends, Jake(Kellie) Schmaltz, Jeremy (Tabitha) Schmaltz, Kristi (Jake) Dougherty and Katie Callaway (Doug H.).

Services will be conducted at 7:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. George Lane and Jeff Arrington officiating. Mickey and Nikki Summey will provide the music.
