James Martin “Marty” Reed

Gate City, VA – James Martin “Marty” Reed, 53, Gate City, VA, passed away on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at Church Hill Post-Acute Care in Church Hill, TN.

Marty was born on October 29, 1973, in Sullivan County, TN, and was the son of the late Rayford Herbert Reed, Jr. and Brenda Faye Kindle Reed.

He is survived by his brothers, Neal Reed (Amanda), Raymond Steven Reed, Michael Jeremy Reed (Erica); nieces and nephews, Olivia Reed, Bella Reed, Owen Reed, Zaylee Reed, and Kai Reed; along with many other family members and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Church Hill Post-Acute Care and roommate/friend, Randy Gibson, for the love and care shown to Marty.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 14, 2026, at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA, with Deacon Travis Barnett officiating. Marsha and Travis Barnett will provide the music.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.

In Lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to a church ministry in Marty’s name.
