James Eugene “Cookie” Hall- Dungannon, VA
James Eugene “Cookie” Hall, 64, Dungannon, VA, passed away with his loving family by his side at Holston Valley Medical Center on Friday, September 11, 2026.
Cookie was born on September 12, 1961, in Kingsport, TN, and was the son of the late Jimmy Arthur Hall and Minnie Lea (Peak) Hall.
In addition to his parents, his son, Eric Begley preceded him in death.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 45 years, Sandra (Lucas) Hall; daughters, Sonya Hall and Kayla Hall Garrett (Dillion); son, Travis James Hall and fiancée, Shawnkaria Dorton; sisters, Daisy French, Barbie Marshall (Tony), Ruby Dickenson (Randy), Angie Nave (Dustin), and Linda Minnix (James); grandchildren, Hailey Hall and fiancé, Grayson Carrico, Caden Hall and fiancée, Braylee Kinkead, and Dayton Garrett; special nephew, Jason Lucas; special nieces, Brittany Fletcher and Christy Gibson; special friend and fur baby, Chico; and several other nieces, nephews, and family members. He was a papaw to many kids, even though they were not his.
The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m., Monday, September 14, 2026, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 7:00p.m, in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Danny Darnell officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00a.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the Hall Cemetery, Fort Blackmore, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00a.m., to go in procession to the graveside service.
Jeremy Buchanan, Chris Parks, Jason Lucas, Dalton Grizzle, Dakota Dorton, Josh Gibson, Benny Peak, Gregory Parks, and Jimmie Ramsey will serve as pallbearers. Caden Hall and Travis Hall will serve as honorary pallbearers.
