Barbara Jane (Brown) Humphreys went to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the Bristol Regional Medical Center, Select Specialty Hospital.
Barbara was born in Harlan, KY to the late Charles Jackson Brown and Marilyn Clark Koch.
Known to everyone as “Ma”, she was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
She had an unconditional love for her family and touched many lives. Her legacy and love for life will never be forgotten.
In addition to her parents, her son, Danny Joe Humphreys and the father of her children, Bill G. Humphreys preceded her in death.
Surviving is her daughter, Deborah Jane Quillen and husband, Mike; son, Doug Humphreys and wife, Bitsy; grandchildren, Jennifer McDavid and husband, Brian, Michael Thomas and wife, Karrie, Courtney Jane Carter, Ashley Hill and husband, Kevin, Will Humphreys and wife, Tori, Luke Humphreys and wife, Kimi, Stuart Humphreys, and Spencer Humphreys; great grandchildren, Blake, Logan, and Jackson McDavid, Cole and Brit Thomas, Drew, Margaret Jane, Clay and Brady Carter, Caroline, Henry, Hadley Jane, and Hazel Hill, Patton and Etta Humphreys, and West, Eva, and Harvin Humphreys; Brad Humphreys and wife, Lauren; sister-in-law, Vivian Todd and husband, Tom; her lifelong friends, Martha and Buzzy Breeding; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and special friends, Teresa Cress, Rocio Fuentes, Grace Bradley, Kim Burton, Teresa Benton, Lois Kirkus, Evelyn Sloan, and Andi McDavid.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Gate City, VA with Rev. Andy Barnes and Rev. Jeff DeBoard officiating. A eulogy will be given by Martha Breeding.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Her grandsons, great grandsons, and Buzzy Breeding will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family requests anyone who wishes can make a donation to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105
The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers and the staff of Select Specialty Hospital for the loving care that was given to Barbara.
