Bruce McDavid-Duffield, VA
Hubert Bruce McDavid, 85, Duffield, VA went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Nova Health &Rehab in Weber City.
Born December 20, 1940, in Scott County, VA, he was the son of the late Clifton Henry and Elizabeth Carol (Wallen) McDavid. He retired from A and L Construction.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Wanda Nell McDavid, brother, Gerald McDavid, and sister, Janieve Roach preceded him in death.
Bruce was a quiet man who served the Lord from his teen years until his death. Bruce taught himself to play guitar at a young age and he loved to play and sing in church with his wife.
He loved the outdoors and loved to farm, hunt, read his Bible and watch preaching on TV.
Surviving are his three children: Myra Bledsoe (Keith), Richmond, KY, Mark McDavid (Angela Powers) Duffield, and Karla Hackworth (John), Winston-Salem, NC. Bruce also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, Laken (Chris) Tomlinson, Marcus and Ryan McDavid, Elizabeth (Jesse) Neal, Abby (Clint) Hackworth, Heather (Caleb) Foutch, Maggie Brooke and Jacob Hackworth, and 4 great grandchildren that he adored, Savannah Neal, Anniston Tomlinson, Connor Tomlinson, and Jaxon Tomlinson, sisters, Beulah Bishop, Wanda Bishop, Anita Jones, Dremia Smith, and Charolotte Lane, brothers, Rev. Vernon McDavid, and Sam McDavid, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving loved ones Saturday, May 30, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with Bruce’s son-in-law, Rev. John E. Hackworth, Jr. and his brother. Vernon McDavid officiating. Eddie Roberts will provide the music.
Burial will follow at the Goode Cemetery, Goode Hollow Road, Duffield, VA. His grandsons, Marcus McDavid, Ryan McDavid, Jacob Hackworth, Jessie Neal, Caleb Foutch, Clint Mooney, Conner Tomlinson, and Jaxon Tomlinson will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to thank the staff at Nova Health and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care they provided Bruce in his final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brick Church of Rye Cove.
