Howard Eugene Bishop- Duffield, VA

Howard Eugene Bishop, 82, Duffield, VA, passed away, Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Holston Valley Medical Center.

Howard was born in Scott County, VA, on July 29, 1941, to the late Charles Hansford Bishop, and Martha Locena (McNew) Bishop.

In addition to his parents, an infant son, Jeffery Eugene Bishop; sisters, Virginia Kern, and Mary Jane Justice; and brother, Roscoe Bishop preceded him in death. 

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 65 years, Ethel Ramey Bishop; daughters, Kathy Sharpe (Steve), Karen Bohnert (Stan), Sharon Stacey (Toney), and Lisa Johnson (Richard); son, Randall Bishop (Angie); grandchildren, Jonathan (Megan) Bowen, Kassondra (Jon) Lawson, Ethan Bowen, Brianna (Ross) Young, Logan Bohnert (Tiffany), Camilia McNew, Nathan Stacey, Laken Tomlinson (Chris), Marcus McDavid, Ryan McDavid, and Charlie Bishop; special friend, Geree Hilliard; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other friends. 

The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m., Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be conducted at 7:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Joe Hill and Rev. George Gibson officiating. 

Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00p.m., Thursday, February 15, 2024, at the Rollins Cemetery, Duffield, VA. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:00p.m., to go in procession to the graveside service.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. His best friends, and nephew, Doug Baker, Kenny Sauls, and Marvin “Toddy” Kern will serve as honorary pallbearers.
