Herman Carter Dean – 97, Fort Blackmore, VA. Died peacefully Sunday, June 16, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Herman C. Dean was born May 13, 1927, in Lee County Virginia. He was a farmer and logger in his early years. He retired from A & L Construction in 1980. He loved spending time with his family and friends and would help anyone in need. You could always find him helping a neighbor or friend. He was a beacon of light in the community. He had a love for farming. He tended to most of the farm animals in the Fort Blackmore area and was considered the local vet. He was an avid whittler and loved making his iconic fans, chains, and walking sticks. He was known for his love of “Mountain Dew”. To know him was to love him and the examples he set are everlasting and we will cherish all that we learned from him.
