Thomas Clayton Hensley, 82, of Gate City, VA passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019 at his daughters’ residence under hospice care.
Thomas was born in Hawkins County, on November 24, 1936 to the late Thomas Farmer and Nannie Pet (Walters) Hensley.
In addition to his parents, daughter, Reba Hensley; brothers Bill, Albert and Charlie Hensley preceded him in death.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife, Grace Hensley, Yuma, VA; daughters, Connie Light (Eddie), Kingsport, TN, Wanda Brown (Mike), Church Hill, TN; step daughter, Audrey “Tootsie” Bellamy (Dale) Yuma, VA; son, Roger Hensley (Joy), Gate City, VA; step son; Bill Houseright (Jenny), Gate City, VA; sisters, Georgia Thacker, Church Hill, TN, Leona Pierson, Yuma, VA, Grace Jones, Yuma, VA, Ola Bellamy (Harry), Yuma, VA, Margie Tolley (Larry) Yuma, VA, Virgie Thacker (Dan), Surgoinsville, TN, Phyllis Reynolds (Gary), Kingsport, TN; brothers, J.B. Hensley (Wanda), Yuma, VA, Orville Hensley, Yuma, VA; special sister-in-law, Rose Blessing; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at Catron’s Chapel Church from 5:00-7:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary of the Church with Pastor Larry Tolley officiating. Landon Bellamy will provide music.
The graveside service will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at 11:00 p.m. at Blessing Family Cemetery in Yuma, VA. Scotty Hensley, Brandon Hensley, Tommy Jones, Daniel Thacker, Greg Bellamy, Tony Bellamy, Trevor Bellamy will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be J.R. Hensley, Dennis Hensley, Dale Bellamy, Bill Houseright.
Those who wish to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
