Eliza Mae McConnell Hartsock, 97, went to be with her Lord, Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at her residence in Nickelsville, VA.
Eliza was born in Scott County, VA on March 26, 1921 and was the daughter of the late William Sevier and Patty (Smith) McConnell.
In addition to her parents, her husband, J.C. Hartsock; sisters, Lotus Good and Edna Phillips and a brother, William Francis McConnell preceded her in death.
She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Robinson and husband, Johnny Wayne, Nickelsville, VA; son, Daris Hartsock and wife, Nell, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Lyle Hartsock (Tammie), Richard Hartsock (Audra), and Hope Avans (Brad); great grandchildren, Benjamin Hartsock, Beth Hartsock, Dakota Hartsock, Montana Hartsock, and Grayson Avans; brother, Ubert McConnell, special friends, Ann Hartsock, Gay Smith, JoAnn Elam, and Norma Robinson; special care, Bobbie Head; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 p.m., Saturday at the First Baptist Church of Nickelsville, VA. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary of the church with Rev. Steve Collins officiating. A eulogy will be given by her granddaughter, Hope Avans. Danny Dixon and Bobby Hillman will be providing the music.
Burial will follow the service at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Lyle Hartsock, Richard Hartsock, Benjamin Hartsock, Dakota Hartsock, Montana Hartsock, and Brad Avans will serve as pallbearers. Gary D. Addington, Pat Good, Bill Buchanan, Terry Hartsock, Tim Ratilff, and Jeff Francisco will serve as honorary pallbearers.
