Helene (Sue) Hartley – Gate City, VA
Helene Hartley, 66, Gate City, VA, formerly of Lehighton, PA, passed away, Saturday, August 8, 2020 at her daughter’s residence.
Helene was born in Newark, NJ in Essex County on March 2, 1954 and was the daughter of the late Charles Martin Rutcosky and Sophia Teresa (Masavage) Rutcosky. In addition to her parents, her sister Patty and brother Michael preceded her in death.
Helene worked in the Hopatcong School System for roughly 20 years. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and her animals. She enjoyed being outdoors and gardening in her younger years. Her sense of humor was unique and made everyone laugh. She truly lit up the room with her bright eyes and her smile. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends

She is survived by her daughters, Maureen Canfield and husband, Scott, Gate City, VA and Sue Lantzer, FL; sisters, Karen Schwindenhammer, PA and Peggy York, DE; brothers, Charles “Chuck” Rutcosky and Richard Rutcosky, both of PA; grandchildren, Autumn Hartley, Amber Predmore, Kirsten Canfield, and Sophia Merkle; great-grandchild, Cameron Pennella; best friend, Jennifer Vandermeer, PA; along with several nieces and nephews.
It was the wish of Ms. Hartley to be cremated with a private memorial service scheduled at a later date
